The Importance of Quality Time

Hey Guys, Here's the video to this post if you'd prefer to watch it. You can read about it below...

It's early in the morning here in Orlando and I woke up sore.

After our morning excursions with the Disney Institute and lunch, Rozanne and I had some free time for some R&R. We went for a walk around the property and found a beach volleyball court by the pool.

It's been a while since I last hacked around (that's vball speak for "unstructured play") on a beach court. Luckily, I've still managed to retain some fundamentals.

Getting out there and playing ball with my wife was refreshing and made me appreciate this time we have together. Yes, I'm here on business, but meeting don't start until today so we milked as much time together as we could.

It's important for us (my wife and me) to make sure that make time for each other.

As you know, we've got 4 little girls at home, so the time we get alone is few and far between. Couple that with it being January where Toronto winters are cold and the days are short and with the economy being the way it is right now...more often than not, we don't really feel like doing anything.

It's not because we don't want to spend time with each other, it's just that the environment isn't condusive to us motivating ourselves.

So when the Orlando opportunity presented itself, I made sure to book a ticket for Rozanne to come with me.

And it's been great. We get dinners and days off together and she'll get alone time while I'm in meetings where she doesn't have to worry about getting anybody out of bed, changing diapers, wiping noses or driving to school.

It's essential for us to make time to reconnect and I strongly suggest you make time to do the same with your wife or special someone.

Chris,

Great stuff...couldn't agree more; I have two boys, 11 and 14, and it's important to carve out some time together on a regular basis. Your 'FIT and BUST DAD' blog inspired me to start my own blog about growing older and getting 'fitter' called "Luck is for Rabbits". (http//luckisforrabbits.blogspot.com)

Your workouts are the real deal! Please keep the posts coming!

Thanks!

Thanks Fred!

You're right, time goes by so fast these days that before you know it, you're just roommates and have lost all connection with your wife.

Great title for your blog! I'll be sure to check it out on a regular basis!
